The Heritage Boys’ and Girls’ Cross-Country teams continued their success this season at Bassett Creek Park in Crystal. Both the boys and girls varsity teams came home with lots of PR’s and some continued confidence as the season progresses. The Boys Varsity team won their “tri” meet against Lester Prairie and Eagle Ridge Academy with 21 points. Sophomore Kees vanOosbree led the varsity squad with a very impressive time of 17:14. Other scorers for HCA include sophomore Jack Hoppe (West Lutheran), senior Henry Hakanson, junior Elijah Koopman, and junior Grant Nelson (RiverTree). Juniors Matthew Steil and Daniel Farrant also rounded out the varsity for the race.
The Girls Varsity race was very exciting as our Eagles and Lester Prairie had a second consecutive week of tight racing. HCA won the meet 28 points to 30 points through plenty of strong running by all competitors. The girls’ team was led by Bethany Boerner (West Lutheran) who placed second in the meet with an outstanding time of 19:50. The rest of the scoring Eagles included sophomore Macy Bell, junior Gina Solberg, senior Simone Lundquist, and junior Sophia Haskett. Seniors Morgan Bell and Abbie Vetse also contributed points to the final score by beating out Lester Prairie’s 5th scoring runner and displacing some of their points.
Both JV teams won their races as Heritage proved successful all night.
Next week Thursday the Eagles face some more tough competition at Gale Woods Park.
